Media Liaison Specialist Jobs in Midrand
Requirements: A Three (3) years National Diploma and/or B Degree in Public
Relations or Communication / Journalism / Public Relations * A total of five (5) years
relevant working experience *Professional experience in marketing, especially related
to media engagement strategies *Working knowledge and understanding of the
communications environment, policies, knowledge and understanding of government
communication *In-depth knowledge of directing advertising communications and
other related working experience *Advanced knowledge of the AARTO Act, National
Road Traffic Act and any other legislation and regulations impacting on road safety
*Stakeholder engagement experience. *Valid driving licence.
Skills: Sound administrative and communication skills both written and verbal*
Planning and organising skills. *Problem solving and analytical skills. * Computer
literacy (MS Office Suite Package) *
Duties: *Develop media engagement action plans derived from the media diary to
highlight events from a marketing perspective in the form of media publications, e.g.
written articles, editorial comments, editing of feature articles for publications, media
buying, press releases, etc. *Develop, manage and implement a crisis
communication plan during a time of crisis *Overseeing communications with the
media, including preparing articles, press kits, press releases, and other content
management initiatives.*Cultivate and manage good relationships with media
representatives.*Ensure the organisation protects and promotes its image in a proper,
coordinated, and consistent manner.*Manage an ongoing flow of news about the
organisation to the media *Gather and disseminate timely news information to press
and staff. *Promote the RTIA as the custodian of the AARTO Act and its regulations.
*Regular liaison with all media regarding RTIA programmes, activities and campaigns*
Research, writing and releasing of media statements and enquiries * Arranging, setting
up and briefing of principals in preparation for telephonic and live media interviews. *
Attending and networking in media forums such as the national press club and
government communicators forum * Organizing media briefings for the RTIA.*
Quarterly updates of the media engagement database *Developing relationships with
national and regional government officials, enhancing corporate reputation through
direct contact and representation of corporate positions * Providing expert advice,
counsel and recommendations on stakeholder engagement matters, to influence
organisational strategy, decisions and initiatives.
