About the Unit

Yara BU Africa’s ambition is to become the leading and most profitable provider of differentiated crop solutions in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. This will be achieved by combining unique crop knowledge, high-quality products and unrivalled application tools. The Agile Project Manager position is will be based in Sandton, Johannesburg and will report to the SVP: Business Unit Africa.

Responsibilities

Define project objectives, scope, roles and responsibilities, develop the project schedule and resource allocation with Business Owners.
Roadmap and define clear quarterly targets (OKRs) for strategic initiatives with Business Owners and regional PMO.
Sets standard, provides governance, enforces accountability, sets the pace and priority with Business Owners and regional PMO regional PMO.
Manage and track progress of cross-functional projects across all project phases; resolve conflicts, anticipate, and mitigate risks/issues to drive successful and on-time completion of project deliverables.
Drive project communication and progress. Ensure regular, timely updates to key stakeholders on project progress, key risks/issues and mitigation.
Act as a strong counterpart for business owners to explore market opportunities with digital products.
Support the development of new digital business cases to test product-market-fit.
Champion new agile or transformation processes and conduct local training with guidance from regional PMO

Profile

Proven track record in successfully managing and implementing agile digital Projects.
Strong commercial understanding, managed projects of at least 1 MUSD.
Knowledge in IT-Security Policy and Data Protection Policy.
Solution-orientated and hands-on, with the ability to lead without authority.
Ability to thrive and exercise sound business judgment in a fast-paced growing organization, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Plus: Experience in Digital Transformation or Change Management
Projects of non-digital nature will also be managed. ie logistics, commercial implementations, New business development
Strong project/program management skills and track record of successful project management

Competence on agile work methodology and ability to drive projects as part of organizational transformation
Strong collaboration, influencing and negotiation skills (internal).
Comfortable with interacting with stakeholders at different levels both internally and externally.
Experience in working in international teams and culturally diverse environments
Open minded with positive drive, and solution oriented
Excellent communication skills in English in written and spoken form, additional African languages are an asset
Experience from consultancy is an advantage

Qualification and experience

Relevant tertiary qualification
3-5yrs experience
Proven track record in managing projects
