Management Accountant X2  ( HRL 16  )

Sappi Southern Africa requires two Management Accountants (each based at Saiccor Mill and Stanger Mill) to ensure that accurate and timeous financial information is made available to all stakeholders and ensure that accurate product costing is done in line with budget. Managing the receivables, taxes and payments in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, focusing on system and staff productivity and ensuring efficiencies throughout the process.

This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer

The main responsibilities of this job are:

Financial Monitoring/ Reporting And Analysis

• Review, analyse and process all applicable daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports, management reports and statements and obtain approval where applicable.
• Responsible to ensure the correct payment, adjustments and reporting of all financial information for external and external transaction within agreed timelines.
• Ensure the availability of accurate data, statistics, variable production costs and management reporting information.
• Maintenance of accounting controls and systems in compliance with prescribed accounting statements, internal control procedures and Sappi accounting policies, including the loading of data into Hyperion.
• Recording of Accruals and journals/standard journals; ensuring they are authorized and recorded correctly within the reporting period.
• Preparation of general ledger reconciliations, following up and resolving reconciliation items
• Recording of intercompany transactions. Confirmation of balances at month end.
• Bank account reconciliation with daily allocations to Debtors Accounts
• Fixed Assets – Control capital expenditure and fixed asset register – completion of forms/entries only when required.
• Monthly Tax Pack is completed for the Tax Department
• Preparation of projected financial statements, budget, forecast or estimate
• Analyse financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems

Budgeting/Forecasting

• applicable financial forecast estimations and to obtain approval where needed.
• Monitor and guide the cost centre owners to ensure compliance to the budgeting and forecasting guidelines and processes.
• Upload Fixed Expense Budgets onto SAP system
• Manages discounts and payment processes by paying suppliers on time and making cashflow calculation decisions for settlement discounts to benefit from the discounts

Optimise Financial Management Controls

• Perform management audits measuring adherence to policies and procedures.
• Review management accounting policies/ procedures when needed.
• Ensure the business unit complies with regulations related to the Companies Act, Income Tax Act, VAT Act, Customs and Excise and other regulations.
• Assist users on Financial information queries
• Ensure compliance with the International Financial reporting Interpretations Committee (IFRIC4)
• Reconciliation of interco and long-term loan accounts
• Preparation and clearing of GRIR Account to the Mills

Payments

• Implements and customises relevant accounting processes should an account be required to change as initiated by Senior management /Accounting standards committee.
• Problem resolution within the department and at various business units relating to the processing of documentation in order to drive continuous efficiency/streamlining processes
• Plans for month-end activities. This would include timing of payment runs, preparation of recons,

Safety, Health And Environmental Compliance

• Housekeeping on SAP – clear all open line items.

The ideal candidate should have:

• Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3 Years Post Graduate Experience in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Administration.
• SAP Experience preference
• Computer Literacy Microsoft Office
