Job Purpose
This incumbent of this role is critical in the identification of revenue leakages and financial losses to SAA. It will require dedicated and skilled staff with experience in manual proration. Due to the financial implication to SAA it must be emphasised that only the best will qualify for this position. This position has direct impact on the cash-flow of SAA.

The role is responsible for the pricing and proration of airline documents where the RA system has rejected items for manual intervention and or where results/information available has been found incorrect. This will include Own uplifts (083 paper) as well as other airlines documents. From time to time staff will be rotated to other sections to gain exposure to the wider functions in RA department.

The role requires skilled staff who will at all times maintain good interline relationships when dealing with other airlines to ensure that we uphold SAA reputation.

Principal Accountabilities
Demonstrates an understanding of the Finance Management strategy and plan relevant to own work outputs
Implements Finance Management strategy within own area of responsibility
Provides recommendations to support the implementation of the Finance Management strategy and plan

Contributes to the budget management and containment of costs
Applies cost saving initiatives continuously
Provides recommendations on profitability
Ensure the identification of revenue leakages
Committed to the ongoing recovery of overbilling from Interline Partners to protect SAA revenue and maintain global standards

Assuring accuracy and protecting SAA Revenue at all times
Provide input into Revenue Accounting Strategy
Participate in improvement projects on protection against financial losses
Recommend improvement and best practise suggestions
Utilises resources in area of responsibility/ own area of work in a time and cost-effective manner
Utilises technology to enhance internal and external customer expectations
Executes work outputs according to customer requirements

Adheres to Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
Delivers on regular, irregular and timeous reporting of information to key stakeholders
Participates in continuous optimisation programmes, projects and initiatives
Ensure outward billing to other airlines are done timeously and accurately
Evaluate airlines documents at correct applicable fare preventing revenue loss
Consider and process other airlines claims to ensure fair billing

Manually prorate the tickets which the RA system (APRA) has rejected timeously and accurately.
Interpret prorate agreements and fares to apply them in billings to / from airlines.
Report urgent matters to Superior on system reference tables
Align inter – departmental teams regarding Fares, ticketing and Proration as per MPA/SPA.
Identify specific trends and alert Superior with regard to the involved airlines.
Assist Rev Acc accounting control with clearing of interline accounts
Manually create journals rectifying incorrect allocations

Investigate and finalise queries received from other airlines
Maintain all documents and information for audit purposes
Resolve disputes with other airlines and inform them formally accordingly
Ensure compliance to IATA rules and regulations
Keep abreast of all IATA changes and developments

Demonstrates an understanding of company policies and processes relevant to people management
Adheres to people processes and plans to deliver on organisational objectives
Participates in development initiatives to maximise own and department’s productivity
Embraces change initiatives in line with the vision and strategic direction of the Airline
Demonstrates willingness to enhance own skills and share same with immediate team members
Lives and role models the Airline’s values

Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 (Matric) with accounting at NQF level 4
A 3-year diploma in Accounting will be an advantage
Successfully completed Basic Fares & Ticketing
Successfully completed Intermediate Fares & Ticketing is an advantage
Successfully completed Revenue Accounting and Control IATA Diploma
Amadeus Reservation and Ticketing is an advantage

Knowledge of SIS
At least 1- 2 years’ experience in Revenue Accounting
Experience in manual proration
Knowledge and Skills
Proficient working knowledge of APRA modules (Sales, Flown Interline Accounting and Ref Tables)
Methodologies and practices within RA System with a specific focus on IATA and RA System based proration
