Background:

Prosek Partners is looking for a temporary Media Analyst to support a variety of clients across the financial and professional services sectors.

Media scanning is a foundational function for most PR programs. When done correctly, scanning equips PR professionals with essential insight on the position of their client. Clients find significant value in knowing when they are mentioned in the news and broadly understand their position relative to competitors and their industry.

Primary responsibilities:

Identify, read, and compile news stories that are relevant to your specific client and their industry:
- Publication Type: National, regional/local newspapers/websites, trade publications and broadcast
- Potential Sectors: Financial Services (i.e. asset management, banking, alternatives, fintech etc.) and Professional Services (consulting, legal etc.)
Leverage various tools of the trade (i.e. Factiva, Signal, Google) and set up news alerts to conduct specific key word/Boolean searches to yield targeted news stories
Compile notable stories that include mention of the client, relevant spokespeople, competitors, broader trends, or special announcements in a format that best suits your client
Analyze and summarize news stories into concise, digestible format
Liaise with PR team to understand priorities and to inform searches for the day

Secondary responsibilities:

Assist with new business and various research assignments including:
- Relevant reporters and stories
- Competitive landscape analysis
- Creation of SWOTs (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats)
- Conferences and awards that are relevant to clients

Other requirements:

Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical/critical thinking skills
Strong interest in financial services, professional services, technology, and/or B2B communications
