Mayfly Agri Technical Manager Vacancies Description?

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have an MSc in Animal Nutrition. A PhD degree will be a strong recommendation
Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role will be required
Good knowledge of FORMAT is essential
Proven knowledge of Nutrition and Act 36/1947 is important
Previous experience in leading teams and building relationships across cultures is important for this role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing formulations, raw material costs, cash flow, and working capital and maintenance spend
Ensuring the Technical Manager (Production) understands and manages formulations and that proper quality control systems are in place to maintain the production of quality products.
Managing and ensuring that the Technical Manager (Production) understands and manages the premix room, waste disposal and truck spraying.
Liaising with production to ensure that upgrades in plant are done to maintain quality and traceability.
Liaising with buying department to optimize on the purchasing of raw materials.
Searching and investigating alternative raw materials.
Negotiating with suppliers to ensure optimum quality and price.
Assisting with managing budgets and forecasts.
Ensuring all products and procedures meet the requirements of Act 36/1947 and for export.
Strengthening the product image by assuring products meet the legal requirements.
Ensuring products exported to Namibia are registered properly.
Representing the company at AFMA.
Identifying the needs for new products in field of operation.
Ensuring most up to date nutrients are included for a cost-effective formulation.
Upgrading existing products as well as formulating new ones, to ensure quality and effectiveness.
Writing articles to assist in the marketing of products.
Ensuring that correct research is done to develop and monitor products.
Handling all product related technical claims (quality, performance, off specification) and ensuring the correct procedures are followed.
Assisting sales agents with on-farm visits, writing of articles, radio interviews, and addressing of farmers days.
Ensuring sales agents are properly trained and understand the applications of products.
Co-ordinating all training with co-ops and distributers.
Developing concepts that could be used for the marketing of products.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
