Enel Green Power South Africa is seeking for a Senior HSEQ Officer to support and co-ordinate the implementation, maintain and update the HS systems in order to identify and eliminate all potential hazards in compliance with relevant legislation; through ensuring compliance to all statutory requirements and company standards.

What you will do:

• Ensure that Health & Safety policies and procedures of Enel Green Power are communicated to all employees
• Record of such communicated Policies and Procedures are kept for inspection by Internal and External auditors.
• Ensure that the Risk Assessment of the Sites & Sandton Office is kept up-dated and shared with all interested parties.
• Ensure that all Health and Safety trainings for Enel Green Power employees are identified, training is undertaken and renewed.
• Ensure that Health and Safety programs initiated by Enel Green Power are rolled out
• Ensure that surveys such as air quality, ergonomics and illumination are conducted for the Sandton office, deviations corrected
• Ensure that there is a supplier for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all types
• Ensure that an Emergency preparedness plan for Sandton Office is always updated , Emergency marshalls trained, Emergency drills are conducted, deviations corrected in conjunction with relevant Units.
• Ensure that First Aiders are trained and appointed as per OHS Act requirement
• Ensure that First aid boxes are compliant with Regulation.
• Promote safe work practices.
• Ensure that a Yearly Wellness program is compiled and executed including a Wellness Day.
• Ensures that all incidents reported on HSEQ4U are closed out monthly.
• Ensure that all incidents occurring are reported within the stipulated time.
• Participate and promotes any HSE initiatives that the company identifies as critical
• Ensures that any High Potential (HP) cases, First Aid cases are investigated within the stipulated timeline.
• Monitoring and reporting health and safety performance.
• Evaluate of health and human factors, method for exposure monitoring and assessment of occupational health and safety risks, human behavior, person-to-person and person-to-machine interactions.
• Compile budget based on foreseeable needs/requirements
• Compile and execute a HS plan for the business
• Liase with DoEL (Department of Employment and Labour) where required
• Ensure that any DoEL inspections are coordinated and close any gaps identified
• Ensure that O&M contractors develop their risk assessments for every activity to be conducted on site.
• Ensure that safety documentation for new contractors are checked and accepted before work commences.
• Ensures that emergency preparedness plan is in place at all O&M sites and that drill do take place.
• Ensure that contractor personnel working at sites are compliant with company policies and safety requirements.
• Compile, keep and ensure that man hours are updated monthly.
• Ensures that HSE monthly reports are compiled and submitted by all O&M sites timeously.
• Ensure that all incidents occurring at site are reported within the stipulated time.
• Ensure that investigation reports of all incidents are submitted with all supporting documentations.
• Ensure that Safe work systems are implemented and followed accordingly.
• Provide SHE related advice to site personnel.
• Able to travel to O&M sites frequently to conduct HSE inspections.
• Able to compile a procedure or flow chart as per requirements
• Environmental performance evaluation, and environmental reporting and disclosure.

Qualifications

Who you are:

• Safety Management diploma /SAMTRAC / NEBOSH
• Incident Investigation training
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA)/ RCAT
• First Aid level 2
• Legal Liability Course
• OHSAS 18001 implementation
• Conversant with OHS Act and regulations
• Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (HIRA)
• Computer skills
• Good communication and writing skills
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience within HSEQ field at senior level
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships with various stakeholders within the company.
• Strong planning, organising and control skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work with minimum direction and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
• A self-starter who takes a proactive approach and has good decision making skills.
• Auditing techniques.
• Experience with international company is considered a plus
