ALS Warehouse Supervisor Vacancies Description?

The position is based at the laboratory in Johannesburg, South Africa and reports to the Sample Preparation Manager.

Responsibilities of the Job:

Compliance:

  • Practice the ALS Health and Safety Foundation Standards
  • Practice the ALS company core values
  • Abide by the ALS company policies and procedures
  • Follow all ALS Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at all times
  • Abide by local legislative requirements at all times
  • Compliance to the ALS Quality Management System
  • Responsible for ensuring ALS quality protocols are adhered to and quality targets met at all times and in accordance with ISO17025 quality standards

Warehouse:

  • Overall responsible for the section’s HSE, QC compliance of the warehouse and laboratory supply storage facility
  • Organize workload according to laboratory demand to ensure continuous support for the laboratory operations
  • Ensure all documentation related to training are up to date and available at all times
  • Directly responsible for planning and organizing of all warehouse related tasks
  • Planning of optimal staff requirements against work demand
  • In conjunction with line management, propose for improvements in routine and non-routine procedures within the warehouse
  • Respond satisfactory to client queries
  • Maintain up to date communication with the line management on issues that may involve warehouse personnel or any other matter relating to the section’s performance and operation Assist to resolve these timeously
  • Arrange and stock client samples materials and lab supply items in warehouse premises according to warehouse storage protocols and with complete tracking and traceability
  • Able to retrieve samples / sample boxes upon request using sound storage protocols
  • Follow sample tracking procedures
  • Responsible for appropriate housekeeping in the warehouse area to allow for complete traceability of all client samples and laboratory supplies
  • Maintain appropriate record keeping of sample movement and storage / disposal status
  • Responsible for stock counts on a monthly basis to ensure audibility and accountability of all laboratory supplies.
  • Timeous and accurate reporting of stock levels to Finance department on a monthly basis to ensure appropriate cost accounting for the relevant accounting periods
  • Assist shipment in and out of warehouse premises
  • Strictly adhere to the handling and disposing of waste material and hazardous substances
  • Exercise flexibility with assisting in other lab departments with appropriate training provided

  • Train staff on departmental processes and SOP’s
